Our Story

Our Story began....

not so long ago in 2012 when the previous owner Julie Bailey noticed a "For Sale" sign on a small, but quaint, run-downed building on Sixth Street in uptown Metropolis, IL. Her business past in retail and her eye for old-fashioned décor influenced the opening of another small town business. The building needed a lot of love and care but soon became the home of "Sixth & Vintage", a boutique specializing in trendy clothing, jewelry, unique home décor, home fragrances, and gift items. In June of 2013 the purchase of the "Van Hooser" building, built in 1925, was made to allow for more room compared to the space offered from the original building. After an extensive renovation, Sixth & Vintage moved to the corner of Sixth and Market street in Metropolis during November of 2013 and still operates at this location. Shortly after, in the summer of 2015, Lori Deasel became a co-owner of the store and added much to the table: her sales expertise, friendship, and an eye for fashion. The partnership has allowed for a planned expansion which is expected to take place in the Spring/Summer of 2016. The expansion hopes to offer more vintage inspired home decor, gifting items, jewelry, accessories, and a wider variety of fashions. Sixth & Vintage's story is still in progress, with each chapter opening many great opportunities. But with one thing being certain, none of the chapters could have been completed without faith in God, hard work, passion, and the support of loyal customers.
Thanks for everything!
